Founder kissing here dog

What a journey it's been

Hey there,

My name is Chantal, founder of MediScan ID… and this handsome little guy is Winston, my CEO (Chief Eating Officer).

I wish we were meeting under better circumstances.

Because if you’re here, chances are life hasn’t exactly gone to plan lately. Maybe your health has changed. Maybe you’re exhausted from trying to explain yourself. Maybe you’re just tired of feeling misunderstood.

I get it, because I am like you.

A few years ago, my life changed overnight.

In June 2020, I had my first seizure. One week I was preparing to move to Mexico with Winston… the next, I could barely get through the day. What followed were months - years of pain, uncertainty, and learning how quickly your independence can disappear when your body no longer feels predictable.

One of the hardest parts wasn’t even the physical symptoms.

It was what happened in public.

I would lose the ability to speak.

But I could hear. I could see.

I just couldn’t communicate.

And in those moments, people didn’t know what was happening. Honestly, I don’t blame them. It’s confronting to witness someone having a neurological episode, especially when they can’t explain what’s going on.

I remember collapsing against freezer doors at the supermarket, dealing with arm spasms in shopping aisles, and watching complete strangers panic because they wanted to help… but didn’t know how.

And then there was the travelling. I remember flying to Kuala Lumpur for treatment, armed with nothing but a lanyard around my neck and a bag full of shame and embarrassment — hoping that if something happened to me on that plane, in that airport, in a country far from home, somebody would somehow work out what was wrong.

That feeling stayed with me.

Not just the fear.

The frustration. Embarrassment. Betrayal of my own body.

I was desperate for some help and realised something important:

Most medical IDs weren’t designed for everyday people.

They were designed for paramedics and medical professionals - people trained to recognise them, interpret them, and know what to do next.

But what about everyone else?

What about the supermarket worker? The friend? The stranger trying to help?

I needed something that could speak clearly in the moments I couldn’t.

Something visible. Simple. Human.

That’s why I created MediScan ID.

MediScan ID uses NFC technology, the same technology most of us already use every day for tap-and-go payments. With a simple tap of a smartphone, your Support Profile can instantly explain what’s happening, how to help, and who to contact.

Not in complicated medical language.

In real human language.

Because when someone is distressed, confused, overwhelmed, or unable to communicate, clarity matters.

My goal was never just to create another medical ID.

I wanted to create something that helped people move through the world with more confidence, more independence, and a little less fear.

Something designed to be seen, not blend in like a piece of jewellery.

And most importantly, something that gives people a voice when they can’t use their own.

I’ve been personally using MediScan ID for months now, including during some very overwhelming situations, and I honestly can’t explain the peace of mind it brings knowing the people around me can understand what’s happening without me needing to say a word.

If you’re here because you’re navigating your own health challenges or supporting someone you love, I just want to say this:

You are not difficult.

You are not a burden.

And you deserve support that actually works in real life.

Thank you for being here.
